I don't know why it has taken me this long to become familiar with child sponsor program such as Compassion but I'm a little ashamed about that. Upon getting all of my questions answered, my intentions verified, and my emotions stirring, I promptly sat down to select a child to sponsor.
I felt so humbled seeing the number of children that need a sponsor in the thousands and seeing their pictures-many of them looking so somber and so...sad. I wish I could sponsor every single one of those children-it just breaks my heart that there are SO many kids out there that have it so rough in life-kids worrying about things that I could never imagine.
I finally decided on a precious little six year old girl from Rwanda named Uwihirwe, and I can't wait to send her a letter, among other things. I am so naive, so sheltered, and most of all-so spoiled. I thought it would be nice to send clothing, toys, etc. They need simple things like bandaids, food, and water. They are overjoyed by something as simple as their sponsors sending pictures of their family.
I am excited to treat this sweet little girl as one of our own kids-she's special and she deserves it. If you feel so inclined, would you go visit Compassion and think about sponsoring a child? Every kid deserves clean water and food to eat as well as the love and support from others.
I am thrilled to start this journey, to give a child a chance at life that they deserve, and to teach a child about the love of our Lord.
