Denver Nuggets
We have had a whirlwind weekend but a fun one and one in which I ate enough for about 12 people.
We started off our weekend with (what else) eating and shopping. And we ended it the same way.
In the middle, we did this:
For Christmas, I got Jimmy (and me) tickets to a Denver Nuggets game-neither of us had ever been to one. You would think I could figure out this whole kids don't ever do things as expected thing especially when I think it would be a good idea to plan things in my head as they should be in an ideal world. Ruby napped for about an hour from 10:00-11:00, so I was picturing the absolute worst as we arrived at 6:00 for the 7:00 game. I thought it would be a complete gift if she slept when we checked into our hotel, but that would have been a little too perfect. I was expecting to be cruising the Pepsi Center with a crabby child, but it never happened. She sat on my lap for three hours. Despite her attempts at seeking the attention of others around us and a few slightly whiny moments, she was an angel. She obviously doesn't understand how to behave around strangers, but I always feel so embarassed when she goes around slapping strangers' arms to get their attention. And this happened about 12 times in the course of the game-I felt so awful sitting next to that poor man. I don't think I ever realized how tight those chairs are packed in until I tried to contain a squirmy child for an extended period of time.
The Nuggets did win, but not before a stint of overtime (I panicked a little bit when they couldn't make a lay up at the end to just win it, because I knew that meant more minutes of Ruby rudely hitting the people around us and saying Hi every .2 seconds). But I cannot complain-I don't know many children under the age of 5, much less 14 months, to sit still (well, almost) for nearly four hours. The kid never ceases to amaze me with her willingness to just go with the flow.
She got that trait from her daddy, most definitely.
Between the fresh donuts with chocolate and orange dipping sauce, the feast at Old Chicago, and a root beer float (would it be really disgusting if I told you that was about one fourth of the food we consumed?), my love for all things JUNK was verified yet again and my belly was suffiently satisified.
And of course, it was a necessity to walk the outlet mall so that I can get my weekend exercise in. I may have purchased a few things along the way.
In conclusion: shopped, ate, ate, ate again, watched basketball game, ate, ate, shopped, ate.
