Dorky Things & Mission 101

Am I the only one that's weird enough to have dreamed about having my own .com home since the internet was born?  It's true-if it makes me weird, so be it.

And last night, I started that process.  I have my own domain now, but it is still in the final stages of being processed, so it's inaccessible for the time being.  You can still access my blog by entering http://www.rubysredslippers.blogspot.com, because you will be redirected to the new digs.

And the blog name changed again, because I couldn't register the domain: Riding Life.  Someone else out there got their own .com dream accomplished with my name before I got around to it.  My new domain name is http://www.thesassyone.com/ (Jimmy said: "Well, that definitely fits you"-I wasn't sure if I should be glad he thought so or offended).

In the meantime, I am trying my hardest to figure out all that there is to the blog layout that I have in my head.  Let me tell you: all that I know about html is self learned and it isn't proficient knowledge by any means.  So bear with me as I get through the renovations here-they'll be done shortly and well worth it!

In other news, I am slowly (but surely) getting myself and my home organized and into a routine that I would like to see.  I have maneuvered stuff around in our daily schedule that allows me to get a lot more done and yet a lot more quality time with Ruby.  Her favorite thing at the moment is reading books (specifically: "Old Hat, New Hat"), and it's special to both of us that we can sit and read books for a good chunk of the day.  I will always have time to clean my house-what I won't always have is a snuggly baby that drags her book to my lap and snuggles right in.  I don't ever want to look back on Ruby's childhood and have regrets about the way I spent my time, which was the primary underlying reason for the New Year's resolution to figure out how to best be organized and balance my time.

In semi-related geeky news to my fascination with having my own website and getting excited over new to do lists and organizing home schedules, I am really excited that it's January for the sole reason that American Idol is starting.  For the first time in my life, I don't have other obligations and deadlines in which to make me feel guilty for watching my favorite show three days a week.

Have you heard of this website?  It's sort of a fun twist on New Year's Resolutions, but more like a long term to do list.  You make a list of 101 things that you want to accomplish in the next 1001 days and it keeps track of your progress.  You know me.  And you know my obsession with lists (type A, OCD-remember?)-this should not come as a surprise!  I am not quite finished with my list, but that doesn't mean I haven't started marking things off!  I put some stuff on there that is silly (building a snowman with my family), and stuff that is more for home improvement-stuff like taking time for myself, and stuff for making sure I create time for my favorite hobbies.  When I am finished, I'll link to my list-it's such a fun idea!

For the second year in a row, Ruby made it to see the ball drop.  But she didn't make it much longer.
