Playdate

Last Monday, Ruby got to go on a little playdate while I got to catch up with Amy and Jenn and finally meet precious Bohdy.  Bohdy was born last October, almost ten weeks early and spent the remainder of what should have been his time in utero in the neonatal intensive care unit.

For obvious reasons we didn't get to see him the first few months of his life, but seeing him last Monday was such a joy!  And I got some awesome new baby snuggles in.  Even though he's four months old, he is just the size of a newborn (8 lbs) and perfect for a snuggly little nap right on top of me.

I somehow forgot to bring my camera, so I didn't get any pictures.  But I found it so fun to watch Bohdy's big sister, Saylor (who I nannied for in college beginning when she was 8 months old and ending when she was 2 1/2) playing with Ruby.  Ruby looked up to her and her cousin Kaya as they ran through the house, and she sure did her best to keep up with them.

It's good for Ruby to get to interact with other kids, because she doesn't have that chance very often.  It's fun to watch her interact (well, when she isn't ripping toys from other kids and squawking what I can only assume is meant to be a territorial warning cry...for toys that most often are not hers) and take in her surroundings when other kids are involved.

I am looking for things to get Ruby involved in so that she can get this interaction much more often.  So far, on my list I have story time at the library and a trip to the children's museum.  Of course there is a trip to the zoo in our future, but the snow needs to disappear before that can happen.

Um, my baby fever may or may not have increased ten fold during this time.
