I just want to express our sincere thanks to those of you who have expressed your condolences on my blog and in other places as well - it makes things slightly easier knowing that we have so many people praying for us and thinking about our hardships.
I have lots of things to say without the proper words to express them.
This has been a rough week, but a week for which we are thankful.
Mostly, it has been a week full of reflections and deep thinking.
I have come away knowing how blessed I am, which sounds wrong after such a loss, but we have so much to be thankful for. We lost a father, but we gained a whole bunch of family and perspective about life.
I have two hard things to get through this week; two things I had hoped to conquer last week before we found ourselves in what should have only been a nightmare. I have good faith about both things and will share more later when I have weights lifted and can form coherent thoughts.
For now, some pictures of some very special people...
I wish I had gotten my camera out more with all of Jimmy's family but it wasn't a necessity and therefore didn't make the diaper bag cut. Such decisions must be made when lugging around things for two little people.
Rubyisms:
I told Ruby it was time to brush her teeth and she looked at me for a second before saying, "Actually....no."
At Grandma and Grandpa's house, Ruby was eager to look around. When Grandma asked her for hugs, she said as she wondered off, "I'll be back in just a minute."
Ruby chose a fine time to start behaving like a wet noodle. At the airport, where Jimmy and I looked like mules packed for a month-long hiking trip, Ruby kept saying, "I can't walk. I can't do it." When I finally finagled enough stuff around to gather her little hand in mine, she collapsed to the ground. Repeatedly.
