kansas is the new vegas

another first

Without slots, alcohol, and late nights dancing or people-watching on the strip.  I have never felt more exhausted and hungover in my life.  I didn't have so much as a sip of wine; the effects of not sleeping are mind-boggling.  Crazy allergies + night owl + restless baby = unfavorable sleeping combination.

Overpacking times three made for a car that resembled a cross country move.  When not driving, Mom and I spent our time doing acrobatics to retrieve lost pacifiers and fetch water bottles, or to adjust the sounds on the white noise app.

I feel like I spent twelve hours in the car, about that many hours sleeping over the entire trip, and the rest of the time was spent torn between laughing and nearly collapsing from exhaustion.  We had an amazing time with family, trips to the cider mill, arboretum, and shopping.  I don't know how anyone juggles two children, because after six months of time to figure it out, I feel like I still wear an obnoxious flashing neon sign over my head that reads: Frazzled Take full advantage of this opportunity.

Regardless of the exhaustion, the terrible twos (No, MY DO IT), the teething baby (there are two pearly whites now!), and GPS Lola who appeared to have overdosed on narcotics and led us astray numerous times, I am so glad we had the opportunity to do this.

The real hero was Mr. Football himself who transformed my house from remnants of a frantic whirlwind of overpacking to a spotless piece of amazing to come home to.

How do I go about hiring an on-call Starbucks barista?  Looks like I have this maid thing figured out at this point.  Good thing, too, because I have a teething baby who needs me, and I'm also too tired to even move the laundry.

By the way, the heater is totally on, and I'm celebrating fall in my house today.  Kansas has missed the memo and is still doling out terribly humid heat waves.

we narrowly made the grape season window; I think I could eat ten pounds of these babies.
a birthday shout out from Mother Nature
